The program requires students to hold a current STNA certification.  A combined STNA + LPN program is also offered, allowing students the opportunity to complete both programs at a reduced rate.

The Adult Practical Nursing Program at WCSCC is one of our most popular full-time programs! We offer both day and evening classes. With experienced, caring instructors and top-notch clinical sites, this program is one of the best Practical Nursng programs around.

 

We are currently accepting applications for the evening program. (The deadline for the day program was May 1.) The application deadline for the evening program is October 1.

 

In order to enroll in the Wayne County Schools Career Center Adult Practical Nursing Program, you must:

• be at least 17 years of age

• be a high school graduate and submit an official high school transcript OR

• have passed the General Education Development (GED) test and submit a GED certificate

• submit official transcripts from all post-secondary schools attended

• provide the school with a completed application form with a $60 WorkKeys testing fee

• attend a mandatory information session

 

Information Sessions

Info sessions are held several times each month. You need only attend one. To obtain dates/times and register for an info session, call 330-669-7070 ext. 1320.

 

Please note: The enrollment process can take several months to complete. Because of medical and admission requirements that must be fulfilled several weeks before classes start, application for any particular program is usually closed three months or more before the date of the first class. It is never too early to apply!

12-MONTH DAY PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAM

Class schedule: Mondays-Fridays from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. Clinical rotations may start earlier in the morning and last for seven hours.

*This program includes the State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA) certification for those who do not already have it.

 

Important Dates:

May 1, 2016: All applications are due

May 11, 2016: Mandatory financial aid meeting (3-5pm or 6-8pm); meeting will be held in TRC at WCSCC

June 7, 2016: Mandatory Practical Nursing Orientation (6:30-8:30pm); meeting will be held in the Commons at WCSCC. $100 acceptance fee or deferral form due.

July 25, 2016: STNA classes begin (if required)

August 15, 2016: Practical Nursing classes begin

***Late applicants will only be accepted through July 18, 2016. Work Keys must be completed and passed that week in order to start on July 25, 2016.

 

 

15-MONTH EVENING PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAM

Class schedule: Mondays-Thursdays from 3:30 pm to 10:00 pm. Clinical rotations may start earlier in the afternoon and last for seven hours.

 

Important Dates:

October 1, 2016: All applications are due

October 19, 2016: Mandatory financial aid meeting (3-5pm or 6-8pm); meeting will be held in TRC at WCSCC

November 8, 2016: Mandatory Practical Nursing Orientation (6:30-8:30pm); meeting will be held in the Commons at WCSCC. $100 acceptance fee or deferral form due.

Late November (exact date TBD) 2016: STNA classes begin (if required)

January 3, 2017: Practical Nursing classes begin

***Late applicants will only be accepted through November 1, 2016.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Ohio Board of Nursing prohibits licensing of any candidate who has been convicted of, found guilty of, pled guilty or no contest to, received treatment in lieu of conviction, or received diversion for certain crimes. For more information and a complete list of conditions that may prohibit licensure, go to the Ohio Board of Nursing website.
 

The licensure application process includes fingerprinting and a BCI/FBI criminal records check.

 

Advance through Nursing with the new Nursing Pathways!

Through partnerships with Stark State College or North Central State College, and The University of Akron Wayne College, the WCSCC is now offering nurses a pathway to advance through nursing.  Stark State classes are held onsite at WCSCC in Smithvile, which can lead to classes in Orrville at Wayne College.
